Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate Cancer Screening

Men are entitled to a Prostrate Cancer Screening and its advisable to start this from the age of 40 every ten years until the age of 70 at which point the risks are then much lower.

Here is what Professor Chris Booth suggest you request;

When filling in the the online questionnaire (E-Consult) with you're Doctors Surgery to get a GP appointment for a Prostate Screening,

(With Symptoms) I would say that either I have got urinary symptoms and I want a full assessment, including a PSA and rectal exam.

or

(Without Symptoms) If I have no symptoms, I would say I am entitled to a PSA test according to the Prostate Cancer Risk Management Program. I have read all the pros and cons of having a PSA test, and I realise that there are benefits and harms. I consider the benefits now far to outweigh the harms and wish to have a PSA test done on a regular basis until I get to about the age of 70 when it should be obvious whether I need any further testing or none at all, because by that stage I should have gone through the risk period for developing a life-shortening prostate cancer.
